God’s Word is indeed a communication to us, His believers, and as thus, the evil one’s insidious nature is revealed occasionally. Your comment in the beginning about how the term for the good news was perverted is just one example. Bottom line, though, is that God’s intent WILL be made known, no matter what is done to thwart it.
It’s more clear now that, like all of us sinful ones, the Jews wanted to be known as God’s chosen without doing their part of the covenant. Not only that, but they became furious that God would extend His good news to the gentiles. The evil one was definitely working then as he did trying to keep God’s Word from the commoners in medieval times.
He still works today, but his time is definitely finite. Your calling to teach us to research and discover/uncover the mysteries as God intended is such a great blessing!!
What strikes me is how easy it is to look at the progressive understanding of how His efforts to provide us with His word resulted in the canon of scripture and then somehow think the work is done simply because...well we are so smart compared to...(fill in the blank).
I used to feel bad for noting the slips and miscues...thinking that I was dishonoring God. I now believe that a respectful and honest examination is not only acceptable to Him, but expected.
As you have mentioned: the understanding has not (and should not) shaded His Truth; it has instead made me more bold in my declarations of faith in His plan!!

Hmmm….maybe allowed the miscues (misinterpretations) in order to ensure there would be warriors, such as yourself, who would search….to our benefit!
That would be just like Him wouldn't it!!! (And not just me BTW!)
